So I am not a big fan of Denna but after Re-reading the part where Deoch and K reminisce about her I had the thought that she might be much older than she appears. She hadn't changed since Deoch met her and she would seem to be not much older than K. You would think a young teenage girl would change quite a bit in a 2 year span but she is the same throughout the 2 books. She never gets to close to people, maybe because she out lives everyone, so getting attached just leads to disappointment when they pass away. Then she is very knowledgeable about a lot of things a young girl probably wouldn't know, but then again so is K. It seems to make sense she is half Fae. She has no family that we know of so if she had a mortal mother maybe she passed a long time ago and she doesn't know who her father is? Her constant journeys could be her looking for why she is the way she is, and her questions about magic could be related to something like this as well. I haven't seen this theory but I bet it's out there already. Is there evidence in the books to contradict this?

I kind of like Denna a lot, I'd even go as far as to say she, Fela and Simmon are my favourites, so I am glad there is a thread for her.
I never thought about her as a Fae, but I cannot think of anything that outright contradicts your theory. In fact, there are a couple of things that, while not solid proof of her being Fae, do prove she knows things she couldn't and may be older than she seems.
For instance, her knowledge of Yllish knots and how quick she was to correct Kvothe about the amount of strands the braid should have. I might be mistaken, but I understand that Yllish culture all but disappeared thanks to the Empire. So, how come Denna knows how to write with the knots?
However, it is worth noticing she asked the boys about magic that comes from writing, so maybe she researched about it. Nonetheless, learning a new language in less than a year's time is an impressive feat that show how much she and Kvothe are alike (you know, besides being stubborn and proud as all get out).
Another thing that caught my atention is how Mr. Rothfuss describes her in the same way he writes about the moon and the wind, ever changing and unpredictable. That is, to me, the reason I think Denna is much more than she seems (and maybe even more than she thinks she is).
