I don't remember what page it's on but do you remember the song Kvothe's father played that got him kicked out of bed? The one that made him sleep under the wagon? Kvothe repeats the last line as "not Tally a lot less."
They told ~8-year-old Kvothe that he was being punished for writing a bad verse, but it makes more sense if the real reason his mom was angry was because he used her real name - Natalia Lackless.
I think that theory's as good as proven.

Not too mention the fact that when Kvothe meets her sister, he keeps commenting on how he was sure he recognized her from somewhere.
AND, there's the time when Kvothe as a child was singing the children's rhyme - about the things Lady Lackless, and his mother teaches him about respecting people. She says "you can make it up to both Lady Lackless and me", which is true, because she WAS Lady Lackless (also explains why it irked her to hear him tell it).

I read all the theories on Goodreads and I'm fond with many of them... you should add to the list even Auri being the real Princess Ariel, cause this too is a very popular theory I have mine theory too, about the king killed..... my theory is that this king is Kvothe himself, and that he is now the "new Chandrian", faking his own death. I think this because in WMF he told a fake story about Chronicler, in front of him, to teach him a lesson about the power of the stories, and he said that "the name of the high king is locked away in a thrice-locked chest".

Oh, yes, the Auri one, I'll go add that now, how I could possibly forget that. *facepalm*
I was thinking that maybe Kvothe was the king for awhile too, I've hopped around a good deal on that front, but I'm holding strong with Thistlepong's theory these days, I just found it lovely even if it doesnt work out that way. LOL!
EDIT: There we go, I added a couple other popular Auri ones too. Let me know if you think of anymore!

How about the theory of Lorren as Amyr and Elodin as Taborlin? Can't think of any other hugely-discussed ones right now...

Elodin as Taborlin? That would be hilariously good. I picture Taborlin as a Brad Pitt type and Elodin as more of a goofball, kinda chubby guy

I added that Taborlin one. Though in my opinion the chance of that is slim. I have seen it a lot though, so it merits mentioning.
In short, Elodin would have to be a time traveller to be Taborlin.

When I first read the book, I immediately related Master Ash with Cinder, because I thought those names were some sort of synonyms, both connected to fire. Only later I understood that ash is also a tree, in a different contest. On the other hand, Bredon really suits all the descriptions of master Ash: he likes to play, he has a walking stick. Maybe he is the one who wrote Denna that letter, for which she was so upset... since there is a possibility that she comes from a noble family. As for Elodin... I like him, if he is Taborlin that will only increase my love.... but I too think that that would be a little too much. I know that is quite impossible, but I would love Manet to be Taborlin, that would be so funny !!!

LOL- Manet as Taborlin is an awesome idea!
I am totally torn between the two Master Ash theories. Ash and Cinder is too close of a comparison for me to ignore, but it's almost too obvious. And Denna wouldn't know him by the name Cinder, would she? If she doesn't know the name Cinder, why would she be surprised when Kvothe picks the name Ash? And would a Chandrian just be hanging around a bar like that when he met her? Wouldn't he be worried people would notice his signs, or his eyes? And a bar famous for musicians is a peculiar place to find a guy who's afraid of "The Singers!"

Actually I agree, I would LOVE Manet to be Taborlin, that would be immensely entertaining.
Yah, on my first read I connected Cinder with Ash too, I think thats something Pat does to us on purpose. As of now, I don't buy that Cinder is Ash, but I'm not saying it's not a good theory, I just don't like it because I feel it's TOO obvious.
Honestly, I'm really holding out for Maer Alveron to be Denna's patron, but it's a long shot. I've just found that to be the most enjoyable theory, so I like to give it support. LOL.

Has anyone discussed the idea Bredon is Kvothee's grandfather? Or at least the head of the Meluan's family? He is there before the festivities so he may be more in Maer than king camp, Meluan is the only girl who fits the bill for the Maer and a daughter of his seems from what little we know like she would, I may be making a massive leap here but still it seems to fit for me. Also in the whole Chandrian aren't bad thing, maybe thats why Kvothe only tricks the demon but kills the angel, maybe the angels purpose is revenge, kvothe finally fogives the murder of his 'rents and doesn't kill Cinder or some such the angels get pissy and shit goes down involving Denna ? The second idea seems like a stretch but if anyone has any thoughts on it twould be great

That Cinder is too obvious is true, but that doesn't make it impossible...maybe only kind of disappointing...
Bradon as kvothe's relative? That's really interesting!! I have too think more about this..
And more: do you think we will see Abenthy again?

K mentions that abenthy and him would meet again much later so I assume we will see him this last book.
I kinda think that Breadon is working for the Maer. He is having him educate K to help gain Meluan Lackless's hand.
I have never really trusted the Maer and think he has some plan for the box, couldn't say what though.

I feel like Cinder is Kvothes obsession, there must be more to his ending in the story than a page of suprise he wasn't really that much of a dick.
Abenthy that he so easily calls the name of the wind makes me think he is a member of one of the secret society things in the story, like the amyr. That is heavily influenced by my belief that a lot of the Uni's inner core is the same, the doors and the pruning of the library kinda nail in the certinty for me.
