Boards a bit empty, so thought I'd get a thread started as I have been desperate for a KKC forum for ages! Can't think of anything deep and meaningful to post about just yet so thought I'd start with something a bit more superficial!
So, who do you like best? And why?
I think my favourite has got to be Auri. I think she's lovely. I just adore the the way she speaks and the way Rothfuss describes her. The scene where she comforts Kvothe in his room at Ankers always chokes me up. I find her extremely interesting and I hope we find out what made her the way she is.
I also really like Kvothe. Even if he is a bit of an arrogant twit!
(I hope it was ok to start a thread, feel free to remove it if I shouldn't have done it!)

Master Elodin, definitely.
As for why, the combination of mystical knowledge and quirkiness is a win.

Elodin because he walks the line between genius and insanity like a tightrope Shamyr (I can't really remember her name, the leader of the Aden) had a delighfully charismatic power about her And Denna. Oh, Denna

Yeah, I like Elodin too. I have a feeling he isn't as crazy as he's made out to be.
I'm not really a fan of Denna. There is something not quite right about her, though I can't work out what! Hopefully all will become clear when we finally get to read Day Three!

What is it that bothers you about Denna? She's flighty and secretive but she cares deeply about Kvothe deeply and she's not doing anything evil or nasty. She kind of reminds me of Irene Adler, who I liked for the same reason - she's scary smart, elusive, and totally self-reliant.

Though he hasn't been a very major character yet, I really enjoy Master Kilvin as a character.

Obviously (or perhaps not), Kvothe is pretty awesome. I like that he's a genius at pretty much anything he wants to do, but he's not overpowered. He has several character flaws which make him much more realistic and not that obnoxious main character who's good at everything.
Also I really like Bast. I didn't care for him much after NotW, but after WMF he became a favorite. I really can't wait to read about his story in the third book! I think he's just a really interesting character. For the most part he seems relatively harmless, but then he does these ridiculous faerie things and you realize that he's actually pretty powerful. I also just like his relationship with Kvothe, and how can you not be rooting for him trying to turn Kote back into Kvothe?

I'm not sure what it is about Denna. I don't really trust her for some reason. Of course, it could all be in my head!
I also like Kilvin. He seems a decent fellow.
I'm unsure of Bast. I think he is a great character, but I'm worried of his motives. I don't really like how he was with the Chronicler -- sneaking into his room in the dead of night etc. I'm very interested I find out how he came to Kvothe though.
I have heard people say that Kvothe is a bit too good at everything etc. which, I guess could be true. But I really like him. He's the way he is for a number of reasons, and most of them are pretty horrific. I very much hope Kote returns to Kvothe.

It's been too long since I've read the books (in desperate need of a reread soon), so I can't remember the finer details of many of the characters. I have a certain level of respect for Devi who seems to be a very hardened businesswoman.

It's been a year since I've read the books, but I can say that master Elodin made me laugh quite hard.

Personally I really liked Tempi, I was kinda sad when he just kinda disappeared. I laughed at a lot of his one liners. LOL.
Favorite top of the list character though has got to be Ctheah. Every little mention of that thing gets me excited now. I thought it was a pretty original idea and am very interested to find out more about him/she/it.
Bast is pretty enjoyable too, I actually liked him better in NoTW because he got more hardcore lines. I kinda like that he's questionable in alignment. Plus...making somones guts into a lute is kind of an amazingly intimidating threat.... For those of you who really like Bast, keep a watch on Pat's blog because he has mentioned that he will be publishing a story possibly in an anthology or possibly as a novella completely about this character.

I like Auri, she intrigues me. She has something big coming up and will be vital in the next book. I also refuse to believe she will die. For those of you who didn't know a while back Pat posted on facebook "When Auri woke, she knew that she had seven days." I think he's posting that she has seven days to do something else. But not die, she can't!

But not die, she can't! Have you thought much about how that could apply to the story? Obviously, there are no other POV characters beside Kvothe, so, if this is something that is happening in DOS, this thought can be coming from only a single mind....Kvothe's Unless It's from the Frame. IN which case, she'd be alive. Thats the only time the story is narrated in third person.

I was really intrigued when it first showed up and look forward to seeing where Rothfuss will go with it.
